Who am i?
Research has proven the significance of the ‘fit’ within the therapeutic relationship. This means that for your therapy to be effective, it is essential that you feel comfortable with me. This may not always happen right away and that’s ok, as building trust takes time, so let me begin by telling you a bit about myself:
I’m from Northern Ireland and have trained, worked, and lived in Edinburgh, London, and now Belfast. My professional background began in the design sector which progressed to a more people focused opportunity within Human Resources. Working closely with people is my passion and thankfully, through life’s twists and turns, I now work in a profession I care deeply about.
I’m a mum, wife, daughter, sister, and friend living in East Belfast. I enjoy open water swimming (all year…brrr!), and am a novice Goldsmith who tries to make a few pieces of jewellery for myself, family and friends, or to sell every once in a while. My favourite TV shows are cooking programs!
Faith is a big part of who I am. I do however understand the pain the church has caused in many lives and I acknowledge that. I don’t bring issues of faith into the therapy room unless directed by you. All forms of faith and none, are welcome in this warm and non-judgemental therapeutic space.
As a fully trained, degree qualified, and certified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP, reg no. 410042), also holding qualifications recognised by COSCA and the IACP. My training is ongoing in other areas of specialised care through regular CPD.
